Girls Wakeboard & Yoga Weekend Retreat Roundup

The raddest bunch of wake babes around.

Oh. My. Daze.  Wake Daze that is.  We just had our very first weekend retreat last weekend and it was lit.  We had a blast hanging out with such an amazing bunch of babes, it was ridiculous!  Its taken a few days to get the snaps out, we had to edit them down from nearly 1000 down to around 100… it took some time, (check out all the photos here).  So here is a little blog rounding up the weekend.

Here it goes… we kicked things off on Saturday with a thunder storm.  Yep, we had it down to rain for a while but not a full blown storm.  Good ol’ England.  So we hit the giant bean bags with some Nalu Beads and coffees, and got to know each other a little better.

Once we had the all clear to ride, everyone was raring to go after being mesmerised by knotting their Nalu creations.  We had a great mix of abilities, four complete beginners and four riders that had been wakeboarding for over a year or more.  The great thing about CWP is that it has two cables set up, one which is shorter with no toys and so its great for beginners.  And the other cable is tighter with a third cable running through it which is great for learning air tricks, and it also has loads of fun toys to play on.

On the first day we kept the group as one and everyone was chilling together while someone was riding, which is cool because everyone was cheering everyone on.  We had riders getting used to the cable and the toys, learning new cuts into kickers, and total beginners standing up on their first ever time wakeboarding!  Whaaaaat?  Then we swiftly moved on to learning new tricks for the intermediate riders, and starting to use an edge for the beginners.

Once the wakeboarding part of the day was wrapped, the groups headed to the hot tub where they were waiting for their Coach, Lex Balladon, to join in with a welcomed prosecco toast!  What a great way to end a wakeboard session.

Fuel was needed and it came in the form of a BBQ laid on by the clubhouse, which went down a treat.  The night was not over, we led the group back to the lake where Toby (from CWP) had set up a fire pit so we could toast marshmallows and cozy up.

The next morning arrived after a night of camping where a brew and cereal bar were provided to wipe away the sleep heads.  We met Yogi Parker Rose on the dock ready for some morning yoga to get our bodies moving and ready for the wakeboarding that lay ahead.  Parker took us through a fantastic morning flow filled with stretches and vinyasa, along with a some balancing poses, it was the perfect way to start the second day of our wakeboarding and yoga weekend retreat.

Lex and Toby went for a quick demo set each before the wakeboarding part of the day started.  Amped to ride, the girls were changed and ready to go.  There was also a continental breakfast laid out so people could eat as they pleased throughout the morning to keep them fuelled up.

This time, the group was split in two and we had both cables running with four girls on each cable.  Lex spent an hour over on the beginner cable coaching the girls through using edges and turning, and even corners!  These babes did good!  After that, Lex spent an hour coaching over on the other cable coaching the intermediate group who were killing it!  They were going huge off the kickers and getting the different grabs, pressing on the fun box, hitting the incline and even the side of the transfer!  Well done you wake babes!

The food and hot tub kept us going through all the riding as it was a little chills, but sadly it was time to bring our weekend retreat to a close.  We rounded up with a huge pat on the back to all the shredder babes for riding so well, and thanked everyone for joining us on our first ever Wake Daze, wakeboard and yoga weekend retreat!

We cannot wait for our next events, stay tuned as 2018 dates will be dropping over the winter.

A huge HUGE thank you goes out to Toby and Janni from Club Wake Park for being such awesome hosts, and to Nalu Beads for providing all the goodies.
